I’m Blind!

(May 3rd, 2006 @ 0812 - Stephen - Geek)

I owned a Neovo monitor. I’m using past-tense because for the past 6 weeks it has been broken. Luckily it was in warranty so I got on the phone and told them I needed a replacement. No problems you would think - well 6 weeks later, and I still do not have a working monitor.

Don’t get me wrong - Neovo monitors are fantastic, I love the NeoV Optical Glass, which produces a great clear display. It’s just that I have had nothing but trouble from customer support - first they send me a replacment monitor 3 weeks after I request it, I find out that my power-supply doesn’t fit. So I ask them again for a replacement power supply but today, afer another 3 weeks, they have send me exactly the same power-supply (one that doesn’t fit).

I’m now waiting for office-hours before I phone them again. Wish me luck.

Spoiler CSS

(April 4th, 2006 @ 0747 - Stephen - Geek)

Looked at a few examples of spoiler tags and most of them were in the form of a Wordpress plugin or Javascript. I decided to write a CSS based one which required minimal effort to install and here it is:

Spoiler
It’s a bit wierd in the way it uses the a:focus dynamic pseudo-class but it works very well and looks very simple. One of the main problems however is that the CSS doesn’t match multiple paragraph tags but this will do for now.

I thought I should finally upload Dominoes somewhere so where better than video.google.com? Enjoy (Fullscreen Link)

What’s Japanese for Pre-Order?

(March 24th, 2006 @ 1721 - Stephen - Geek, Gaming)

Nintendo are a crazy bunch aren’t they? OK, so not everything they have touched as turned to gold (R.O.B, Virtual Boy) but they have some real fantastic products under their belt and I know that the Nintendo: Revolution will be their best yet. Any console which will allow me to legally download retro content onto my console is worth a gamble however, that isn’t all - turns out Revolution will also allow emulation for the Sega Genesis and Turbo Grafx. That combined with the rumoured low initial cost (around £100 I heard) and this so called flash-in-the-pan will murder Microsoft and Sony.

Finished

(March 16th, 2006 @ 1322 - Stephen - Geek)

That’s it, I’ve had enough - I’ve done as many templates as I can do without nit-picking at stuff.

I’ve only just noticed the insanely small width of the sidebar compared to the proposed calendar which means I’ll have to shift everything at one point - though not today. Haven’t done pages yet or even archive sections yet but those are empty right now so there isn’t a real need.

If you find something broken or needing work, drop a line in the comments and I’ll pick them up.

Implementation

(March 16th, 2006 @ 1010 - Stephen - Geek)

Today I’ll slowly implement the code I was working on yesterday.

I never got round to playing with the calendar so I’ll have to deal with that some other time, but the rest of the design is finished - just have to cut the CSS and the template up. Wordpress more open than I though and it’s just a simple case of looking up a tag and figuring out the format of the arguments.

Everything is fairly broken at the moment obvious so reading comments and posting them will be offline until I make that template for that.

Calendar

(March 15th, 2006 @ 1756 - Stephen - Geek)

Ok, I’ve finished the whole design of the new blog - problem is I don’t know how to create the calendar system I have designed.

Here is an image of the design

Calendar Design

Does Wordpress use tags for each element of the calendar? That, by the way, is the reason why there is a random calendar in the middle of this blog right now - just so I can have a look at how the calendar is structured. I would like to use the Wordpress structure but I feel I may have to write my own calendar.

New Theme

(March 15th, 2006 @ 1122 - Stephen - Geek)

Didn’t take very long to make one, only 1 hour.

I used a previous design I had for a calendar, though God knows how I’m going to write it.

Hmmm

(March 15th, 2006 @ 0900 - Stephen - Geek)

As you can see I’ve had to reinstall Wordpress. I’ve decided to stop using other peoples’ layouts and write one myself, perhaps include some of the designs I’ve been holding onto these last few years.

Tme will tell if procrastination gets to me or not. Time will tell.
