You might not have heard of them before, but Snack-A-Jacks are my new favourite crisps. They are made from pop-corn and are simply bursting with flavour. Pretty good that they are low in calories as well for my task of getting back in shape: 13st 6lbs!.

Mondays will now be my weighing day. I’ve started light, simply eating Shapers food for lunch and watching my portion size at dinner but I plan to hit the gym this week and regularly attend after I get back into the swing of things.

I can see into the future!

The Writers’ Strike has slimmed down my watching options, so I’ve decided to go back to my back-catalog and watch all the shows from previous years. This means going back to my roots and watching anime while also catching shows people have recommended to me.

First off, the anime Lucky Star: this is comedy genius, basically following the lives of 4 girls during their high-school years. It’s structured like Azumanga Daioh, little short scenes with a single basic storyline. This is one of the funniest shows I have seen in recent years, I haven’t seen an anime this funny since Genshiken.

Here’s Konata, the video-game specialist of group, tell the story of how she meet one of the other protagonists:

Next on the list: Battlestar Galactica. JD told me a long time ago, that this show sucked and I should stay away, so I did. I’ve finally sat down, watched the first few episodes and came to the conclusion that this is reasonable. The storyline is pretty enjoyable to watch and the characters are interesting. However there is one issue I have with this show, and it’s a pretty major problem:

Why is it a good idea, when during the opening sequence, that a montage of the current episode is shown? It’s like a complete plot outline on the first page of a book. How was this a good idea? Obviously I’m over 2 seasons behind, but I’m hoping this is removed in later episodes.

Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008!

(January 8th, 2008 @ 1448 - Stephen - Life)

Hello to 2008! Better late than never, but rest assured readers that lots have happened these last few months.

I have a flatmate! Her name is KD and she can usually be found sleeping on the sofa during one of her ill-spells (ill being hungover). She invited me on a night on the town in Glasgow in November then started squating in my flat much to the dismay of JD. She has been so much fun and a great laugh, bringing elements which I cannot provide (mainly cleanliness and Hello Kitties).

Last year’s resolution was to take more photos, now while I haven’t been able to take the promised 1-photo-a-day (that lasted 8 days), I did subconsciously take lots of photos of my nights out and general antics, thus making that resolution a success.

I have another single resolution this year:

* Save at least £1,000 by the end of the year

I have no savings at all (the same situation as all my friends). Imagine this: it’s the end of the month and you look at your remaining bank-balance; it is more than your usual amount. To anyone else would mean “Nice, means I can save”. To me this just means I have more to spend that week “Time to buy me something pretty”.

Hell, I might simply cut my paycheck by 10% and have it direct debt to another account. That would be a lot easier.

Christmas has hit the weight-lose from the previous months hard - very hard. Before I left work, I checked my figure at 12st 6-7lbs, a reasonable amount I believe. I checked it last night, a whooping 13st 4-5lbs. Back on the diet I think, but it’s my birthday soon……. what to do?
